PubMed Free on the Internet

PubMed, a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine, includes over 17 million citations from MEDLINE and other life science journals for biomedical articles back to the 1950s. The Health Sciences Library as linked many of its eJournals to PubMed using the LinkOut feature; to see Saint Mary's icons when displaying abstracts, use the PubMed link above. Or, create your own My NCBI account and add Saint Mary's Health Sciences Library to your filters list. Saint Mary's also participates in the Loansome Doc service; affiliated health professionals may sign up for a free account and direct their article requests to our office.

Formerly known as "the Red Book," CINAHL indexes the professional literature of nursing and the allied health professions. With more than 600,000 full-text articles dating back to 1937, CINAHL Plus with Full Text is the definitive research tool for all areas of nursing and allied health literature. At Saint Mary's, we have added links that provide quick access to many fulltext articles in other databases.

Consumer Health Information

MedlinePlus Free on the Internet

MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included in MedlinePlus and give easy access to medical journal articles. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news.

Health & Wellness Resource Center Link for Saint Mary's workstations

Provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, hundreds of pamphlets, over 700 health-related videos from partner Healthology, Inc., and articles from 2,200 general interest publications in addition to a broad collection of Thomson Gale reference titles. Material contained in this Resource Center is intended for informational purposes only.
